So How Do I Rotate The Clubface Through Impact??

This is an often asked question because what seems easy, can often be misunderstood.  To think of it simply, the club is held onto by the hands which is supported by the arms and the shoulders. Sometimes people in their attempt to turn the clubface, they only use their hands. If you've done it this way in the swing, you will realise it doesn't give you great results as the swing is more than just using your hands.

The correct way is that you not only want to feel the hands rotating but the arms as well.  In addition the shoulders will also be engaged. Also when rotating the the clubface, you also need to be aware that when the clubface reaches it's impact position, the clubface should be pointed at the target as well there should be a little bow in the left wrist. In short you never want to have the clubface in front of your hands at impact.

Now when you start the swing, you might wonder how much you need to rotate the clubface. You just have to remember that the only rotation that happens in the backswing is between the starting position and right up until the club reaches parallel to the ground. The clubhead will gradually rotate to a position which matches the spine angle. This will end up being one to two degrees closed. Most people continue to rotate the clubface to the top of the swing after it reaches parallel to the ground. This however causes an 'over the top' swing which leads to a slice.

Now when the clubface starts it's descent on the downswing, it won't rotate until it reaches parallel to the ground again. From there it will gradually rotate until the club reaches parallel to the ground again after impact. From there the toe of the club should be pointed to the sky. After the parallel position,  the clubface will stop rotating as the club reaches it's end point. Most people under rotate through impact which again can lead toward a slice.
